I was able to spend a lot of time this week finishing up the PBJ-1D from the “The Fork-Tailed Devils” of VMB-433 for the U.S. Marines located on Emirau Island, New Guinea 1944. I was able to complete the remaining external details, paint and decal the aircraft to finish it up. It took a little longer than I planned but in the end it came out looking good. While the kit has some minor fit issues and a couple of badly detailed landing gear doors and boarding ladders I am happy with the results.
You can see all the photos and details from start to finish in the build log at: 1/48 PBJ-1D – B-25 Mitchell
NEXT UP – For my next build I am doing the first commission build of 2025 on a subject that is outside my normal arena. I will be building Trumpeter’s 1/25 scale American LaFrance Eagle Fire Pumper Fire Truck. The client went thru firefighting training on this particular truck. I have a lot of photos supplied by the client on this truck. Many details will be replicated and all of the hoses need to be scratch built. I also purchased some resin accessories to aid in detailing this. Stay tuned for another interesting build.
