I used pastel chalk. I used an eye shadow brush to make the tyre marks and a paper towel do the grease stains. For the grease and tyres I used black. For the heat marks on the jet blast deflectors and the catapult lanes I used light gray to outline the areas, then brown just inside the gray, and finally black in the center.
