1/48 Vampire FB MK.9

The de Havilland Vampire is a British jet fighter developed and manufactured by the de Havilland Aircraft Company. It had the distinction of being the second jet fighter to be operated by the RAF. The version being built is the FB.MK.9.

This is the Trumpeter kit and will include the Eduard photo-etch set ( 49645). Starting with the cockpit, I have the dash and pedals done. Working on the side walls now.

As the build progresses I have completed the cockpit and did some detailing of the landing gear bays and struts. The Eduard photo-etch set has lots of details for the exterior of the aircraft as well. On to the photos.

The landing gear bays are done. The Eduard detail kit provides parts to extend the flaps. To install them the molded in flaps needed to be cut out and shaped. The photo-etch parts were then checked for fit and the fuselage was assembled.

Moving forward on the Vampire. Flaps and landing gear finished, Cut out the intakes to add the more accurate vanes, and assembled the rest of the fuselage. The only real issue with fit was the intake mating to the leading wing edge. Filled and shaped to blend them together. Just finished painting the base coat. Have some more detail painting to do then on to the decals.

Completed the detail painting, Applied the decals and final coated the aircraft. The Vampire is now complete. Thanks for following along.
