SCENE SEVEN – 1/48 Hobby Boss A-6A – “Flight of the Intruder” and a New Air Wing Decal Set.

Week seven has arrived and I am still having brief time on the bench. However, with the time I was able to sit at the bench I completed some small painting details, the canopy and windscreen details, and started the decals. I am using the kit decals and the scheme decals I made.

On a side note I added a new Air Wing Decal set. The set I added is for the USS Nimitz during the 1979-1980 cruise. For those familiar with this particular cruise, it was the cruise that in April 1980 was part of the Iran Hostage rescue that was unsuccessful. The “Operation Eagle Claw” landed at “Desert One” and the mission ran into a lot of trouble. As the U.S. forces prepared to withdraw from Desert One, one of the helicopters crashed into a transport aircraft that contained both servicemen and jet fuel. The resulting fire destroyed both aircraft and killed eight servicemen.
