This next build I am using Yankee Modelworks 1/350 resin kit of the IXC U-boat and will be doing the scheme of the U-505 which was captured by the U.S. Navy in June of 1944. The actual U-boat is currently on display at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. This first week I started off by detailing the hull with the supplied photo etch parts.
I am now working on the conning tower. While there was no hull assembly since it is molded in resin the deck and conning tower still require some clean up of the details. I used a scribe and hobby knife to do the clean up. There is a couple of small mold imperfections on the conning tower so these were filled with putty.
You can see all the photos and details from the start in the build log at: 1/350 TYPE IXC U-BOAT
MORE 1/400 SCALE CVN-65 AIR WING DECAL SETS RELEASED!
I have released three more 1/400 USS Enterprise Air Wing Decal Sets. They are the 1974-1975 cruise which is the first year the Enterprise cruised with F-14’s aboard. The second set is the 1984-1985 cruise which was the cruise used for the filming of the movie “Top Gun”. The third set is the 1990 World Cruise. I have two more sets I am converting and should be released by the end of next week. They are the 1976-1977 cruise which was the first year the Enterprise had S-3A’s. The last one will be the 1996 cruise. As I create more USS Enterprise Air Wing decal sets I will make them for 1/700, 1/400, and 1/350 scales.
