There was no update last week as I did not have a lot of time on the bench. Most of the week was spent installing new vinyl siding on our enclosed porch in the backyard. At times working with vinyl siding is like building a 1/1 scale model. Now back to the model building update.

The eighth week of the F-35C was a slow week. I completed installing all the doors and finished all the details on the nose gear starboard door. I then moved to the painting. This took a lot of time as there are so many different variations and multiple viewpoints I ended up mixing my own color based on some color splashes I received from a U.S. Navy person in a currently active F-35C squadron. In the build log I cover the variations and the reason I chose to use my own mix. The aircraft is now painted and I am very happy with the results.

I will be starting the decal process this week then onto the building, detailing and painting of the weapons. I estimate about two more weeks to complete this build.

TWO NEW AIR WING DECAL SETS RELEASED!

I finally completed two air wing sets. These are in both 1/350 and 1/700 scales. The first set is the CVW-3 aboard the USS John F. Kennedy during the 1983-1984 cruise. This was the cruise that the USS Kennedy was redeployed off the coast of Beirut after the Marine barracks bombing and also participated in the air attacks of the terrorists responsible for the bombing. The second air wing set is for CVW-11 aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during the 1996 cruise. I will be working on more air wing sets and hope to have a couple more sets release this fall.
