The sixth week of the Arizona was spent working on the Captain’s launches and modifying the cranes. The cranes required a lot of modifications as many parts were replaced with photo etch parts. I also completed and painted the aft mast and dry fitted all the parts for the mid ship section.
I am now working on the rest of the launches. These need some minor clean up and some photo etch details. Also during the dry fit of the masts I was going to add the cranes as well however it looks like the upper deck requires some minor modifications to fit the larger sections. I am hoping to have the mid ship area completed by the end of the coming week and start working on the forward and aft deck sections.
You can see all the photos and details from the start in the build log at: 1/426 USS Arizona BB-39
DECAL NEWS – Three Air Wing Sets Released and Three Air Wing Sets Coming Soon!
I released three new air wing decal sets earlier this week. I am working on three more sets and hope to have them released by the end of the month. The three sets I am working on are all for the USS Nimitz.
The first air wing set is for the CVW-8 that was aboard during the 1985 Cruise.
The second set is CVW-17 aboard the last official deployment of the USS Nimitz in 2025. This was the last time the USS Nimitz sailed operationally with a full complement of aircraft!
The third set is the USS Nimitz final cruise in 2026 with only a few aircraft from five squadrons aboard. The ship sailed from Bremerton Washington around South America and ending at Norfolk Virginia to enter Newport News Shipbuilding for initial defueling and deactivation.
The three released earlier are available in the store at: Decal Shop
